Police Expand The Manhunt For Steve Stephens, His Ex Breaks Her Silence

Yesterday we reported on an Ohio man that committed a murder on Facebook Live after he claimed to be angry with a woman. The suspect was later identified as Steve Stephens, and his victim was later identified as 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr.

According to CBS News, Cleveland police have been searching for Stephens all over the Cleveland area and beyond.

As of Monday, Stephens still remains at large, and police have widened their manhunt. In a statement, police say he may have traveled out of state, and that residents, particularly in Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, and Michigan, should be alert. Also if they are to spot Stephens, they are not to approach him.

Stephens’ longtime girlfriend, Joy Lane, spoke to CBS News via text message and said, “We had been in a relationship for several years. I am sorry that all of this has happened. My heart & prayers goes out to the family members of the victim(s). Steve really is a nice guy… he is generous with everyone he knows. He was kind and loving to me and my children. This is a very difficult time for me and my family Please respect our privacy at this time.”

Before his Facebook was deactivated, Stephens claimed to have hurt other people, but as of now, police have identified Robert Godwin Sr. has been his only victim.

During their investigation, police also learned that Stephen’s is an employee at Beech Brook, a behavioral health agency headquartered in Pepper Pike, near Cleveland. A spokesperson for the agency said, “We are shocked and horrified and we don’t know anything more about it. We hope and pray that he is arrested as soon as possible and we hope and pray for a resolution quickly.”
