Dolly Parton Reveals What She Really Looks Like Without a Wig

Dolly Parton has always been larger than life despite her little size. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she frequently wears one of her infamous wigs, which figuratively increase her height by a few inches. Has she ever been spotted without a single one of them?
Consider this. She did, however, recently reveal how she appears without the fake locks in an interview. Parton told Elle magazine for their Women In Hollywood issue in October of last year, “I don’t always wear [wigs] in my daily life, but I always still pouffe up my hair.”
“I still enjoy having that bright hair. I always wear my small scrunches around the house. I always wear makeup and style my hair as cutely as I can. Wigs are simply so useful. I’m pretty busy and have a lot to do. I’m fortunate in that I never have a poor hair day.
Can you picture Parton walking into a grocery store with only a scrunchie to hold her hair back? Even if she had less makeup on and didn’t have a single rhinestone on, which is even harder to imagine, we’re not sure we’d be able to identify her.
This old Instagram photo she posted from when she was “dressed down” like that is the closest most of us will ever get to seeing her. She added the same photo to her most recent book, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics (Buy on Amazon, $34.98),
and captioned it, “In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s my real hair,” even more recently. However, despite how endearing she may appear in the photograph, Parton isn’t the same spitfire we all know and love without her characteristic look.
Parton said to Elle that while she was launching her career in Nashville, her friend and mentor Chet Atkins once attempted to persuade her to change her style in order to be regarded more seriously. “You know what? I said. The two are intertwined for me.
I am what I am. I didn’t just keep it up; I figured that if my work was really that amazing, people would eventually catch on,” she said. We’re delighted the country queen didn’t let anyone change her and instead stayed loyal to herself.
It was about me understanding who I was, being content with who I was, and feeling at ease with how I carried myself. I could make other people happy if I was content. It is undeniable that Parton has delighted innumerable fans with her music, her acting roles,
and those gorgeous wigs. Only the greatest goods and services are intended to be featured in Woman’s World. Deals do end and pricing can vary, however we try to update when we can. We might get paid a commission if you use one of our links to make a purchase.
