Natina Reed, a former member of the 90s R&B group Blaque, passed away tra*ically a few years ago. Sadly, the majority of us were unaware that Natina’s sister also passed away less than a year later. Everyone was sh*cked when Natina Reed, a protégé of the late Lisa Left Eye Lopes (of TLC),
tra*ically succumbed to cancer two days before her 32nd birthday, ten years after her mentor. You can only imagine the ho*ror and suffering Natina’s family experienced when Niesha’s untimely de*th occurred shortly after. Natina Reed is most remembered for
her roles in Blaque’s 1990 singles “I Do,” “808,” and “Bring It All To Me,” but she was also an actress in the 2000 film Bring It On, a modern classic. We’ll start with the specifics of Natina Reed’s passing so those who don’t already know will be informed.
Natina Reed lost her life on the evening of October 26, 2012, after she was accidently h’it by a car while walking to a nearby store in Gwinnett County, Georgia, about 12 miles from her home. Around 10:30 p.m., the driver of the automobile dialed 911 and stayed with the woman,
attempting to assist her until p’olice and paramedics came. After being taken to the hospital in a hu*ry, Natina was declared de’ad at 10:59 o’clock. The driver was cleared of wrong doing and never faced cha’rges. A few legal issues came up for Natina just before she passed away.
That was the result of recorded alc*hol-related events (one D.U.I. charge in 2011 and a disorderly conduct charge in 2012), but the reason Natina was alone and standing on the road of a pitch-black highway the night she was kil*ed was never determined. In the incident report for Natina’s ac’cident,
it was also mentioned that she resided in a long-term hotel in Norcross, Georgia. Natina was not homeless when she passed away, according to her mother Tamar Goodridge, who also clarified that she was “in transition, about to move into a new house” at the time.
On August 9, 2013, Niesha Reed-Stevens inexplicably passed away, ten months after the passing of her sister Natina Reed. A body was discovered at the Atlanta home of Natina Reed’s sister, a former singer for the 90s band Blaque. Her 7-year-old daughter,
who was at home while her husband Tim Stevens was at work, found Niesha Stevens’ body. Just in February of 2013, the pair tied the knot. At Natina Reed’s burial, the two surviving Blaque group members, Brandi Williams and Shamari DeVoe (wife of New Edition’s Ronnie DeVoe),
gave an extremely moving eulogy for their late friend and group member. There are no pictures of the funeral for Niesha Reed-Stevens, Natina’s sister, which took place in Lithonia, Georgia. May the children and loved ones of the Reed sisters and both Reed sisters rest in peace.
